We're spending four days in Ahmedabad. For two of those, Lon is at a paper-makers environmental conference (keynote speaker, no less), and I get to tour the city by myself. For the last two days, we both get to play tourist.
With about 6 million people, Ahmedabad is the largest city in Gujarat. It used to be the capital, until the government moved to nearby Gandhinagar. Even so, cows roam the streets. |
The colorful Law Garden bazaar was within easy walking distance of our hotel. It specializes in traditional Gujarati clothing and fabrics. Spent too many rupees! |
Elephants are massive! (And notice the ubiquitous satellite dish.) |
And are common enough on the streets that the locals seem to ignore them. |
