| I liked the grey heron and yellow-billed stork hunched up in the marsh. |

| Glossy ibis are dark, and silhouette against the water. |

| The African jacana has a blue beak and forehead. Not visible here are the absurdly long toes adapted for standing on floating vegetation. |

| Fan-tailed widowbird. If I were back in the U.S., I would take it for a red-winged blackbird. |
