Agra Fort

Friday, 19 September 2014

In the afternoon we visited Agra Fort -- another huge monument made out of Rajasthan red sandstone. A large portion of the fort is still being used by the Indian Army.

The imposing exterior of the fort.
Dewan-i-Am (Hall of Public Audience), where the original Peacock Throne sat.
The Moti Masjid ("Pearl Mosque") is visible beyond the walls of the main palace courtyard.
Unfortunately, it is in the military area of the fort and is not open to the public.
Musamman Burj, the private chambers of Shah Jahan, where he was imprisoned by his son.
The Taj Mahal is visible from parts of the Red Fort.
