The only reason for our side trip to Dahej was to visit our friend’s new paper mill. It’s quite a contrast to Vapi: the industrial sites are large rather than tiny, and living arrangements are definitely secondary to industry. I have no idea where workers who live here would get basic needs (such as food and transportation). But clearly I’m not seeing what must be obvious! It’s an hour drive into Baruch, which is where most people must be living.

Compared to Vapi, the Mehali paper factory is on a huge site. Lots of space for trucks to load/unload and lay out machinery and equipment in an optimal arrangement. |
