We spent a bit over two weeks in Peru in late September and early October. The first week was on a Lindblad/National Geographic tour of the upper Amazon River basin. Our tour was on the Delfin II riverboat, a truly luxurious ship with two or three daily excursions, gourmet dining, and five-star accommodations.

We used skiffs to board the Delfin II from the dock at Nauta on the Rio MaraƱon. |

Our cabin steward, Roly, was an expert at “towel origami”. He even gave a demonstration one afternoon. |

The pastry & bread chef was particularly creative with dinner rolls. Each day we had a different creature from the Amazon. |

The cream puff swan was the most beautiful of the desserts - and equally delicious! |
The ship repositioned after almost every excursion, and the afternoons were HOT and HUMID (well, actually, it wasn’t just the afternoons), so we had a number of lectures and demonstrations to fill in time when we were moving or it was just too hot to be out and about.
|
Our bartender, “Machito” taught us how to make a pisco sour (the national cocktail of Peru) with plenty of music and dancing. |
|
We had a tasting of traditional Amazonia fruits. |

After dinner on our last night aboard the Delfin II, the staff & crew provided live entertainment. |
