Monkeys
Everyone wants to see monkeys! We saw plenty of them, especially squirrel monkeys, but getting a photograph was more challenging.

The next morning: same tree, same Howler Monkeys, slightly different positions. |

Other Mammals
Sloths are also high on the “hope I see” list. This one is a male because he has an orange patch on his back. |
35 minutes later, he had changed his position - by a little bit. |
These Yellow-crowned Brush-tail Tree Rats rate high on the “cute index”. |
Long-nosed Bats waiting for night to fall in the shelter of a snag. |
Reptiles
Caiman. This is as much as we saw of these large reptiles. Their large bodies were obscured by the muddy waters. At one point, our skiff was surrounded by caiman heads poking out of the river. No swimming here! |
We didn’t see any turtles in the morning. By the afternoon, they were sunning on logs. |
Anaconda |
Tarantula
We had help finding a tarantula from our indigenous guide on our last day. |
That’s a BIG spider! |
The tarantula was released on the forest floor. Can you see it? |
Even knowing where it is, it is difficult to see. How many did we come close to but never see on our many walks in the Amazon forest? |
