Tanzania 12 - Entering the Serengeti

21 December 2014

Ever since I read Born Free, I've wanted to see the Serengeti. It did not disappoint!

The vast plains of the Serengeti area are famously home to wildebeest. The dots along the horizon are a line of wildebeest on their annual migration to the southern end of the Serengeti.
More migrating wildebeest. (Closer views in forthcoming posts!)
A classic Serengeti scene: a lion atop a kopje (rock outcropping).
How close did we get to the wildlife? Possibly closer than we would have liked!

Our "tented camp" in the Serengeti. Camping at it's most luxurious. Each tent had a queen-sized bed with mosquito netting and a private attached bath. The "T-bar" pole at the end of each tent holds two bags of water (one cold, and one hot upon request in the afternoon/evening).
A late-afternoon rainbow.
