Mahabalipuram - Part 3

The town of Mahabalipuram is a center for stone carving.

Two of the many stone carver's shops along the road.
I like to think of this as "Nandi Dog"
On the other side of this shop was a carved Nandi Bull stilling on a similar slab of rock.
This photo doesn't fit into any of today's categories. The baby monkey was really small.

Dakshina Chitra

This is a museum of houses collected from around southern India and reassembled on this site as a museum. The houses serve as galleries to display household artifacts and art. Although we had to walk outside between houses, it was a good way to wait for the rains to abate. There is also a crafts village on-site, where, of course, the opportunity to spend a good bit of rupees was available!

Re-created street scene with typical Tamil Brahmin houses.
