The Montebello Islands Marine Park is 120 km (75 miles) offshore west of Dampier. In addition to marine life, they are known for being the site of three atomic bomb tests in 1952 and 1956. The weather was not particularly cooperative, so we had a long Zodiac ride and no opportunity to snorkel.

Zodiacs waiting to be stowed back aboard ship after our excursion. You can see that the water is fairly rough. |
