We had an all-day tour of Mackay Reef with Sailaway Reef & Island Tours in Port Douglas. We snorkeled on two different sections of the reef, about 2 miles off Cape Tribulation. While we were in Melbourne I bought a waterproof (to 10 m) camera (DJI Action 2), and it took spectacular photos. (The fact that the reef was also spectacular helped!)

| No one looks great in a snorkel mask! The suits are "stinger suits", not wet suits. The water temperature was quite warm - well into the 80s (F). The box jellies supposedly stay within a mile of the shore, but everyone wore stinger suits "just in case". |
