Urubamba - Hotel

Sunday, 19 August 2018

I don't normally write about our hotels. They are generally very nice to luxurious. But every once in a while we get to a hotel that is so spectacular or unusual, that it seems impossible not to mention it. Such is the Belmond Hotel Rio Sagrado in Urubamba (roughly half-way between Cusco and Machu Picchu).

The view from our room's terrace was spectacular.
But what made it even more incredible was the same view in the shower!
When a building is completed, it is common in this part of Peru to put a pair of oxen on the roof to bring prosperity. Each building in our hotel complex had oxen on the roof.
As is usual on our trips, our days are so jam-packed with sightseeing that we really don't have time to enjoy the hotel amenities.
