Our last stop of the day was a home visit to a "typical middle class" home. The owners are tailors and also sell rugs and home furnishings.
Our last stop of the day was a home visit to a "typical middle class" home. The owners are tailors and also sell rugs and home furnishings.

| While most new housing in China is large apartment blocks (even in Lhasa), this new construction retained the narrow streets of more traditional housing. |

| The reception room was huge. We were told that the entire house is 2500 sq ft. That doesn't strike me as an "average" middle class home in China. |

| The back wall of the reception room had beautiful cabinetry and a flat-screen TV. The house also had a modern kitchen that would be right at home in American suburbia, and several bedrooms and bathrooms. |
